A meeting that starts can now offer to record itself — and a correction to the last release that was quietly costing transcripts.

Your calendar can offer to record

The most common reason a meeting goes unrecorded isn’t a bug. It’s forgetting. Minutiva can now watch your calendar, and when a meeting starts it asks whether to record it — naming it after the event, so there’s nothing to type afterwards.

It never starts on its own. It raises the question and waits for an answer, and once you’ve answered it won’t ask about that meeting again. A recorder that decides for itself when to listen isn’t a private one.

Off until you turn it on, in Settings → Transcription → Calendar. Your calendar is read on this Mac and never leaves it — every account you’ve added to the Calendar app is visible, including Google and Exchange.

Empty transcripts, on a fresh install

beta39 made a new install detect the spoken language rather than assume English. That was the right idea and the wrong implementation: the word auto was being handed to the transcriber as if it were a language, and a transcriber told to expect a language that doesn’t exist returns nothing at all — no error, no warning, an empty transcript beside perfectly good audio.

Auto now means this Mac’s language. If you record in another one, choose it in Settings; a transcript in the wrong language is recoverable, and an empty one isn’t much to work with.

If you’d already picked a language you were never affected. This only ever hit installs left on Auto.
