A settings screen that stops asking you things it already knows.

Providers became Summaries

The tab is now named for what you get rather than how it’s made. “Provider” was the right word when connecting one was the only way to get a summary at all. Since last release your Mac can write its own, so a provider is an optional way to get a better one — not the price of entry.

No choice where there isn’t one

If you haven’t connected anything, the screen simply says summaries are written on this Mac, and moves on. A chooser appears only once there are genuinely two places they could go.

This came out of watching the previous release get used: the option to summarise on the Mac was real, but it lived in a list of things you add, so it read as something not yet set up. Offering a menu with one item in it is a decision invented for the reader.

And what a provider is actually for

The connected-providers list now says it plainly: a provider reads the whole meeting in one pass, so it can describe how a conversation went. Your Mac reads a long transcript in sections, which is why it’s reliable about decisions and action items and says nothing about the shape of the discussion.
