v0.6.0-beta16
Recordings were quietly taking up about twice the disk they needed to. This build fixes that, and shows you where the space actually went.
New recordings take about half the space
Minutiva was saving your microphone at a much higher sample rate than anything in the app could read. Transcription and speaker recognition both work at 16 kHz — every recording was being converted down to that on the way in, and the extra detail was thrown away each time and then kept on disk forever.
An hour of a recorded meeting went from roughly 548 MB to about 231 MB. Nothing about transcription or speaker recognition changes — they were already working from the smaller version.
One honest trade: if you play a new recording back, it’s now about phone-call quality. Clear enough to check what someone said, less pleasant to just listen to. Your existing recordings are untouched and play back exactly as before.
See where your library went
There’s a new Storage tab in Settings. It shows the total, splits it into audio, voice data and notes, and lists every meeting largest first.
That ordering is the point. Sorted by date, one enormous recording looks like any other row. Sorted by size, it’s at the top — on a real library the single biggest meeting turned out to be a sixth of everything.
Delete the audio, keep the meeting
Each meeting has a Delete Audio… option. It removes the recording and keeps the transcript, summary and speakers — which is usually what you actually wanted to keep once a meeting has been transcribed.
It always asks first and tells you exactly how much it will free. If a meeting has no transcript, it says so more loudly, because there the audio is the only record of it. Nothing is ever deleted automatically, and nothing is deleted in the background — your recordings stay yours to browse, back up and remove in Finder.
